Back from mountain and settling in. Beer and peanuts and going through pictures. Made mistakes on several, from lighting, to mode and aperture.. frustrated with self but I have to keep at it. Use safe modes and concentrate on angle.
A few of Emma at the summit, very bright, and nearly distorted. Dad took a look and called them surreal, so I’m making Art of them however I can. Not trying to be professional, but just play with them. Looking at the figure and light and colors differently. Not wanting them to be normal or even realistic. Found something in this perspective.
Putting laptop away for a while, returning later like I did last night. No training tomorrow thank EVERYTHING, so a run WILL happen. Shooting for six miles.
Blocking out voices around me, not from any anger or mood, but to see my life in writing about these pictures, or from them. Thought on the mountain, “You can’t just write… write about your photog efforts and trials…”
Writing is not enough. Live first, write whenever. I used to share this idea with students, not sure they got it.
Sip the IPA, more thoughts.
