Wine Response – Big Basin Vineyards GSM Rosé, California, 2010

Can’t forget to let you know about this bottle.  Had one on Thanksgiving, and its promised to please for XMAS plates.  How can it not?  It’s deeply delicious, daunting with all its clean notes; Nice acidity, tropically abundant from nose to finish.  Gorgeous, glorious.  Nice pronunciation of pear, melon, cherry, cranberry.  Smooth ride, partly thanks to 100% French Oak.  I’m never really been blown away by Rosés, but this bottle, also found at Back Room Wines, demands palate praise.  So here I am, praising, giving it a much higher grade than I would normally, for Rosés.  50% Syrah, 39% Grenache, 11% Mourvedre, only partial malolactic fermentation.  Paired wonderfully with the spices in the stuffing, the turkey of course, just about everything else on the table.  Surprisingly versatile Rosé.  Check out Big Basin’s site at www.bigbasinvineyards.com.  And, of course, look for it at Back Room Wines [www.backroomwines.com].  Sip, sip …
